Joining the Annaghdown DNA Project: Transferring your DNA to FamilyTreeDNA
The Annaghdown DNA Project is hosted by FamilyTreeDNA at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/annaghdown-dna-project/. Data from tests taken with Ancestry and MyHeritage can be transferred to FamilyTreeDNA free of charge.
You are also strongly encouraged to upload your results to the free site GEDmatch.com - see instructions below.
Ancestry DNA Transfers
Download your raw data as follows:
1. Sign into your Ancestry account at ancestry.com/dna
2. Navigate to Settings > Download Raw DNA data.
3. Enter your password and click Confirm. You will receive an email when your results are ready to download.
4. When you receive the confirmation email, click Confirm Data Download.
5. Select Download RAW DNA data and save the file to your computer.
6. Open the FamilyTreeDNA Autosomal Transfer page at https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer.
7. Enter the required information and click Join Today.
8. Select AncestryDNA as your transfer type. On the upload page, click browse file to browse to the autosomal DNA results file you've just downloaded in step 5.
9. Click Go to MyFTDNA to go to your kit’s dashboard, from which your results will be available once processed.
10. Join the Annaghdown DNA Project by navigating to https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/annaghdown-dna-project/about/background and clicking Join. Enter some information on your Annaghdown ancestors, if we are not already aware of your Annaghdown ancestry.
MyHeritage DNA Transfers
1. Hover over the DNA tab and go to 'Manage DNA kits'.
2. On the right hand side of the MyHeritage kit, click on the three dots and choose ‘Download’.
3. Click ‘Continue’ on the pop up window.
4. You will receive an email with a download link - click on the link, enter your MyHeritage password and press 'Download'. Save the file to your computer.
5. Open the FamilyTreeDNA Autosomal Transfer page at https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer.
2. On the right hand side of the MyHeritage kit, click on the three dots and choose ‘Download’.

5. Open the FamilyTreeDNA Autosomal Transfer page at https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer.
6. Enter the required information and click Join Today.
7. Select MyHeritage DNA as your transfer type. On the upload page, click browse file to browse to the autosomal DNA results file you've just downloaded in step 4.
8. Click Go to MyFTDNA to go to your kit’s dashboard, from which your results will be available once processed.
9. Join the Annaghdown DNA Project by navigating to https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/annaghdown-dna-project/about/background and clicking Join. Enter some information on your Annaghdown ancestors, if we are not already aware of your Annaghdown ancestry.Transferring your data to GEDmatch

Next:
1. Register for a free GEDmatch account at https://www.gedmatch.com/register.php.
2. Under File Uploads on the main dashboard screen, click Generic Upload FAST.
3. Enter the requested information and click Browse....
4. Select the file you've downloaded from AncestryDNA or MyHeritageDNA.
5. Click Upload and wait for the file upload process to be completed.
